Duties And Responsibilities
The Department of Fine and Performing Arts seeks an Adjunct Professor in the Visual Communication and Digital Media Arts ( VCDMA ) program, Animation and Motion Graphics concentration, and to work within the parameters of the University policy. Teaches courses in 2D/3D animation, character design, storyboarding, rigging, and/or motion graphics. In addition, this person will teach, perform, and produce creative research and service, the person could assist with the management of the computer graphics and digital media labs, studios, and classrooms located in the Fine and Performing Arts Center ( FPAC ). Could serve as Internship Coordinator and/or assist in this role with professional experiences for undergraduate students. Provides instruction for undergraduate courses in the area of 2D, 3D animation, and motion graphics and contributes to growing scholarly activities in the Visual Communication & Digital Media Arts (BS) major in the Department of Fine & Performing Arts. Serves the College of Arts & Sciences governance through participation in different committees. Participates in student advising as well as teaching and supporting of VCDMA program as required. Participates in VCDMA and DFPA events, screenings, exhibitions, and recruitment/retention efforts; mentoring students is also required. Works collaboratively with other VCDMA full-time faculty with students and especially senior thesis exhibitions, portfolio reviews, and assessments. Assists with program management and oversight of VCDMA major and curriculum, program objectives, goals, and outcomes; including new course development and/or course upgrades. Provides assistance with VCDMA computer labs, studios, and classroom spaces associated with VCDMA as needed; specifically, the computers, software/hardware, and technology upgrades for the lab. Participates in VCDMA programs, department, college, faculty meetings, and other activities as required by the department. May serve as a liaison and collaborate with DIT to maintain systems, security, and network integrity. Troubleshoots computer and software and related technology issues with students and faculty in the VCDMA labs in particular. Assists with the supervision of undergraduate student volunteer lab, teaching and research assistants to maintain open lab and studio hours, and support for students and faculty. Assists VCDMA students with obtaining internships, apprenticeships, and experiential learning experiences. Creative evidence of research such as animated productions and projects, exhibitions, publications, presentations, lectures, or workshops in related fields. Assists the VCDMA Program Coordinator and works collaboratively with VCDMA / DFPA faculty, staff, and students in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts to provide excellence in higher education for undergraduate students in the visual and performing and media arts.
