Responsibilities:
- Develop and communicate the overall game design vision and strategy for the company's portfolio of large-scale multiplayer games.
- Lead and manage a team of game designers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with other departments, including art, programming, and product management, to ensure the game design aligns with the project goals and business objectives.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of game design documentation, such as game design documents, pitch decks, and feature specifications.
- Design engaging and balanced gameplay mechanics, including weapons, abilities, movement, and combat systems.
- Create immersive and cohesive game worlds, including level design, environmental storytelling, and world-building.
- Develop and balance in-game progression systems, such as player leveling, unlocks, and rewards.
- Design and implement various game modes and competitive multiplayer experiences.
- Ensure that the game's user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) are intuitive, visually appealing, and optimized for player engagement.
- Drive the development and implementation of monetization strategies, in-game economy balancing, and retention mechanics.
- Establish and maintain design processes, best practices, and quality standards within the game design team.
- Continuously iterate on game design based on player feedback, analytics, and performance metrics.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest game design trends, tools, and technologies, and advocate for their adoption within the company.
Skill sets:
- Strong understanding of game design principles, theories, and best practices.
- Knowledge of 3D multiplayer genre trends, mechanics, and design techniques.
- Proficiency in game design tools, such as level editors, scripting languages, and game design documentation software.
- Familiarity with game development engines, such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
