Job Title: Instructional Design Director
Salary: $125,000 - $175,000

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (Could vary depending on business needs)

JOB SUMMARY:

Instructional Design Director shall take responsibility for all external training initiatives for counties, external agencies, and the general public. Instructional Design Director is an expert adult learning practitioner who will lead the official development and execution of the customer learning experience. In this hands-on role, the Instructional Design Director is a learning plan content creator who will partner with HIT, EHR / Implementation, Product Management, and Program and Project Managers to create training content that will increase user adoption, engagement, and retention. The primary responsibilities include a hands-on approach to leading, developing, designing, and delivering all the training programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Program/Project Managers, HIT/EHR teams, and company leaders to define and manage a list of all the required training initiatives.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and internal teams to fully understand training objectives and to ensure brand compliance. Collaborate to gather feedback, ensuring that content meets these objectives.
  • Design and implement comprehensive training strategies that align with organizational goals and enhance the customer learning experience.
  • Adult Learning SME - Utilize instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and accessibility to create engaging and effective learning & adoption; stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in instructional design and adult education.
  • Develop engaging and effective training content, including but not limited to video, multimedia materials, manuals, e-learning modules, and interactive workshops; ensure accessibility standards are met.
  • Create and maintain training materials to ensure they are up-to-date and relevant to current practices and regulations.
  • Lead and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and seminars for County employees, external agencies, and the general public.
  • Train and manage activities of external vendors and internal team members involved in training development & facilitation efforts.
  • LMS SME - Manage and optimize various Learning Management Systems (LMS) to deliver and track training programs; ensure seamless integration and user experience across all LMS platforms.
  • Plan, organize, and order supplies for training materials and events.
  • Develop and implement assessments and evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of learning materials and identify areas for improvement.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Will directly or indirectly oversee 1-2 employees; provide effective management performance feedback and documentation.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Resourceful, self-starter with a proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines and work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading instructional design work.
  • 10+ years of creating training content to distill technical acumen to non-technical audiences.
  • Highly proficient in instructional design software, e-learning design tools, multimedia editing software, and LMS administration.
  • Expert in adult learning principles and theories.
  • Solid experience in technology training and development of training materials.
  • Experience with ensuring accessibility standards in training resources and content.
  • Has a love for learning models tailored for adult learning.
  • Must have 2+ years of experience supervising a team of 2+ employees.
  • Demonstrated experience with training, implementation and rollout of healthcare software applications preferred.
  • Working knowledge of project management concepts.
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and team-focused skills and experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS – Demonstrate the ability to use Microsoft office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe, Google office suite, and other modern connectivity applications (Zoom, Slack, Asana) for daily internal communication.

LANGUAGE SKILLS and MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Demonstrate the ability to read, comprehend, and respond appropriately through written or verbal form; demonstrate tactfulness when communicating, including internal communication with staff members of all levels; ability to communicate with a variety of audiences effectively. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all measure units using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING – Demonstrate the ability to effectively apply common sense and follow through to daily tasks; demonstrate the ability to work with little or no supervision; demonstrate excellent analytical skills; demonstrate the ability to efficiently conduct research and ask appropriate probing questions to complete necessary tasks.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and stand; use phone and headset; use hands, arms, fingers to type; answer phones; write; use calculator; demonstrate strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds; demonstrate clear vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

SENSORY DEMANDS - The incumbent must spend long hours in intense concentration. The incumbent must also spend long hours on the computer entering information which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.

MENTAL DEMANDS - There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant pressure. The incumbent must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues.

REGULAR WORK SCHEDULE – Varies depending on business needs; however, the company's regular business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
