As part of the Sonos team, you’ll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.

This role is a hybrid position

This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Seattle office locations and should expect to be in office approximately two days per week.

Sonos is focused on helping people listen better to live better.  We’re looking for a talented product designer to build new experiences that help our listeners set up and configure Sonos products and services as they create whole-house systems. You’ll do so on a range of Sonos app experience including iOS, Android, and Web. You’ll be deeply involved in making setup, configuration and onboarding into a daily experience for every Sonos listener easier, more delightful, and rich. You’ll use your full range of skills from product design, interaction design, and visual design, and you’ll do this with a growing team of talented designers and researchers.

What You’ll Do

  • Work collaboratively with designers, product managers, and developers to define and build new setup and configuration experiences in our app, and improve existing ones.

  • Represent the user in everything we build. Participate in research, dig into the data, and utilize Beta testing to understand the context of your work, and use this context as the foundation for our design work.

  • Ideate, create, and refine workflows and patterns in the app experience to make our products delightful to use.

  • Create prototypes to support user research and inform the development of Sonos experiences.

  • Understand, leverage, and extend our visual design system to deliver a consistent and rich app experience.

  • Create high-fidelity visual design specifications and technical documentation using Figma and Confluence.

  • Create compelling presentations and documentation that clearly and concisely communicate design work and your rationale behind proposals.

What You’ll Need

Basic Qualifications

  • You’ve shipped product. You have 3+ years of experience delivering apps and software from brief to delivery within a team environment.

  • You’re experienced designing digital products and systems, not just websites. You have experience designing experiences for mobile, tablet, and desktop across platforms.

  • You are adept at working with logic-driven user-flows and have an understanding of connected technology ecosystems.

  • You’re adept at engaging engineering to establish a deep understanding of technical requirements.

  • You’re effective throughout the entire product development process, from problem definition through to detailed UI and visual design.

  • You’re focused on the listener. You’re curious. You enjoy supporting stakeholder interviews and user research, and integrating findings into final designs.

  • You’re dedicated to craft, and have created high-fidelity design using Figma, Sketch, etc.

  • You’ve created detailed interactive prototypes using Figma or similar advanced prototyping tools.

  • You’ve worked with design systems to create consistently high quality experiences.

  • You’re an excellent communicator of design work and your rationale behind proposals. You can communicate complex ideas to the team and stakeholders.

  • You have experience using Jira and Confluence.

  • You own the success or failure of design work and have found solutions to improve shipped work.

  • A link to an online portfolio or online work samples required for consideration on the role. Please include the URL/Access codes in your resume.

  • Degree in a relevant field (HCI, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • You’ve worked on experiences or systems that combine hardware and software.

  • You understand and have delivered on deadlines related to hardware releases.
