About the team
The Elsevier Identity Services team is a cross-functional group made up of 10 squads, three UX/UI designers, and one user researcher. We build and iteratively improve tools and services to make it easier for users to access all Elsevier products in a seamless way. We are currently working on a fundamental redesign of our identity and access platform, which includes solutions for registration, single sign-on, remote access, user administration, user profiles, and privacy preferences. We are distributed across India, the Netherlands, UK and US, so it truly is a global effort.
About the role
We are looking for a thoughtful, precise designer to lead design on productivity tools for administrators to manage permissions and access for large groups of users. You must be comfortable working and communicating clearly with a complex group of senior stakeholders, in an ambiguous, complex problem space.
As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you will partner closely with cross-functional product and engineering teams to deliver services by conducting research, identifying problems, developing workflows, and creating and user-testing new solutions. You will own the design, managing complex UX challenges, prototyping and visual design work. You will be part of a supportive design team with an innovative design culture.
What you’ll be responsible for
Partner with product managers and engineers to define the roadmap and backlog, and to ensure strategic alignment and effective working processes
Conduct user research to develop a deep understanding of user needs, support your design decisions, and build empathy for users across the organisation
Run workshops, ideate and prototype quickly, and produce detailed design deliverables to ship your designs into production
Ensure that product designs meet user needs, support business goals, and are technically feasible
Collaborate with designers on other products to create aligned experiences
Help improve our design team practices, and support other designers as needed
Key requirements needed as a Senior UX/UI Designer
Have a portfolio that demonstrates design experience covering User Research, User Experience (UX), and User Interface Design (UI)
Hands-on experience in user research and user testing
Attention to detail and proficiency in producing UX flows, design concepts, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes using tools such as Figma
Ability to use and contribute to existing pattern libraries
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, think strategically about product and design, and communicate persuasively to influence decisions
Experience of delivering products in an Agile environment
