As one of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s top contractors, ISS is seeking a Animation and Visual Effects Artist to support National Ocean Service (NOS) office.


 


Where you will be: This role is fully remote.


 


What you will do: Function as the animator to support the animation development for the NOAA Ocean Today program. This includes:



  • Work independently and with a small team to design, illustrate, storyboard, coordinate, and implement high quality character, data and photo-realistic animation for messages and products intended for internal and external audiences;

  • Demonstrate strong skills and experience with the software needed to execute day-to-day animation tasks and communicate effectively;

  • Demonstrate ability to determine customer needs; apply standard NOAA communication protocols and approaches and relay to clients; implement branding in all aspects of work;

  • Demonstrate creative vision to improve upon proposed animation concepts and solve problems in telling the story;

  • Demonstrate excellent organization and communication skills; possess the ability to convey animation concepts in written or spoken form prior to production;

  • Demonstrate experience translating complex science topics into visual products that are easy to understand by a middle school-aged audience;

  • Must be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere, After Effects, and Illustrator. Experience with character animation, including rigged characters and/or knowledge of Adobe Character Animator preferred;

  • Carry out the vision of the video producer and executive producer while also generating original ideas for animated projects or specific scenes;

  • Advanced hand-drawn illustration skills as demonstrated by project samples and ability to design original artwork to fulfill client needs (potential candidates must provide a portfolio);

  • Advanced storyboarding experience;

  • Experience with 3D rendering, animation and visual effects software such as Maya or Cinema 4D preferred; and

  • Train and assist other video editors/graphic designers as needed with various animation or visual effects tasks.




What you bring: 



  • Master’s degree in Communications, Fine Arts, or related field

  • Six (6) years of general experience of which at least four (4) years must be specialized

  • Experience with character animation, including rigged characters and/or knowledge of Adobe Character Animator

  • Experience with 3D rendering, animation and visual effects software such as Maya or Cinema 4D

  • Demonstrated ability to design, illustrate, and implement high quality animations

  • Communicates effectively in both written and oral forms and among various age groups

  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills

  • Demonstrates advanced hand-drawn illustration skills

  • A self-starter, team oriented attitude
