The Opportunity:


We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Design Manager to deliver safe, high quality and profitable construction projects from conversion, through the design phase into construction planning to hand over, commissioning, finalisation and review.


The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties:



  • Lead by example in the promotion, management and enforcement of on-site safety, including monitoring of site safety, completion of safety administration and a proactive approach to rectification.

  • Develop skills needed to participate in the tender process, understand the advice required on the selection of appropriate methodologies, draft construction methodologies that win support from the client and coordinate the team efforts to deliver on-time and quality proposals

  • Assist the Site Manager and Project Manager with all design and construction coordination issues for documentation reviews and RFI’s. Attend and assist with follow up on action items from design, site and coordination meetings. Assist with the control and management of the design consultants. Review and coordination of shop drawings

  • Support the Site Manager to prepare design compliant and comprehensive project programmes in ASTA as a tool to identify and mitigate construction risk and produce projects that maximise productivity.

  • Provide innovation and leadership with regards to sustainability on projects.

  • With support from the Site Manager ensure adequate preparation for project finalisation with a thorough project completion plan. 


 




Skills And Experiences

To succeed in this role, you will have:



  • In-depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards, internal policies, and business systems

  • Understands head contracts and subcontracts

  • Design coordination and planning skills

  • Ability to execute design procurement activity

  • Ability to facilitate the design and construction management process

  • Able to create and status a full construction programme and construction plan

  • Strong understanding of construction techniques and the building process and constraints

  • Proficient project financial reporting skills


Ideal candidate will possess the below:



  • Construction or engineering degree or a building related qualification with additional experience to equate to degree advantageous

  • 5 years+ experience in a similar role in the construction industry

  • Construction Safety Induction (white) card
