Summary

 The Industrial Design Manager oversees the design direction and product development for all lighting and ceiling fans for our Hunter Fan and Casablanca brands. They will identify design trends, managing team capacity, analyze project portfolio gaps, and leveraging outside resources.  Must be a vocal champion of design within the company.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and guide industrial design team to deliver compelling product design that meets consumer, brand, and business needs
  • Identify, present, and implement home décor trends including color, material, finish, and style
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, product management, and sales
  • Measures of success include on-schedule delivery of designs, strong portfolio management, and organization of department budget
  • Understand consumer behavior and usage patterns – ensure designs meet current and emerging consumer needs, trends, and behaviors
  • Occasional travel, including overseas sourcing trips
  • Strong on-trend industrial design ability a must. Role is a hands-on working manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned that contribute to Hunter Fan success

 

Education/Experience Requirements 

  • Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of industrial design experience (relevant higher education will be considered)
  • Experience designing for branded product preferred
  • Contractor and/or Freelance management experience preferred

  

Special qualifications or skills

  • Solid understanding of design principles and trend identification
  • Strong project and portfolio management skills
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills; able to work across functions
  • Highly organized with strong on time management
  • Good presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • 3D CAD experience required. Solidworks, Keyshot, and Creo experience preferred
  • PLM system experience preferred
  • Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop preferred
  • Management experience required
