Position Overview 

At Avoya we use technology to connect and support travelers, Independent Vacation Planners, and travel providers throughout the travel purchasing experience. The product department designs and builds that software, which includes: the consumer website (avoyatravel.com), a B2B software suite, and internal management software (along with a handful of smaller properties and platforms).

As the first Product Design Manager at Avoya Travel, you will have the opportunity to take part in defining our product design process. The product department at Avoya is ready to grow fast; first we want to bring in talented managers to help us build out well balanced and effective teams. Since we are just getting started with establishing a design focused team, we’re looking for someone with extensive design experience who has also previously built, lead, and mentored a design team.

What You’ll Be Doing… 

  • Build and lead a group of amazing product designers, helping to shape our teams and push the boundaries of design in travel
  • Work with stakeholders to create and implement a cohesive design strategy across a suite of products on multiple platforms
  • Understand business goals and set expectations with stakeholders for deadline-driven design commitments
  • Be a driver of continuous discovery and iteration of existing UX/UI, utilizing whatever methods are best for the situation (i.e., A/B or multivariant tests, user interviews, online surveys, etc.)
  • Define and refine product design best practices, both within product teams and throughout Avoya

  • 6+ Years of product design experience
  • 2+ Years of experience managing design teams
  • Expertise with implementing and managing design systems
  • Proficient with Figma
  • Has a love for travel and is excited to help travelers find amazing vacations
  • Has a strong mental model of the product design process and can lead the development of good design practices at Avoya
  • Can effectively interview, hire, and mentor other designers at all levels of qualification and experience
  • Thinks holistically, and in terms of systems and re-usability to create a cohesive and coherent product experience
  • Ability to gather meaningful/actionable qualitative data from product users, and create an environment for other designers to do the same
  • A strong understanding of and proven ability to make data driven design decisions
  • Has experience working on B2B and B2C ecommerce applications
