Senior Project Manager, Construction (Internal Title: Design Manager)

Wage: Starting at CAD $155,000

Number of Positions: One (1)

Required Language Skills: English (spoken and written)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction design projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.
  • Oversee the design of large commercial projects valued at CAD $50 Million+.
  • Provide overall supervision, coordination and scheduling of construction design activities and have a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory requirements and industry practices.
  • Review and oversee contractual obligations and the project budgets.
  • Develop and manage QA processes to ensure the compliance with the contractual obligations and ensuring completeness of the design.
  • Develop and manage processes to ensure meeting or bettering project budgets.
  • Develop detailed design schedules that are coordinated with the overall project schedule.
  • Lead the development of a project strategy that secures the project, and meets or exceeds the project’s required performance, schedule, and profitability targets.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the design policy and procedures.
  • Conduct performance plans and assessments with direct reports.

Required Skills:

  • 10 years’ experience in an architectural design role in a construction company
  • 5+ years of experience working as a Design Manager on major design build projects.
  • Possess a project management portfolio with large commercial and institutional projects (valued over CAD $50 Million) as well as P3 buildings.

Required Education:

  • A minimum of a college level diploma or certificate (or equivalent) in Construction, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
