Menswear Design Director

OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVE:

The Menswear Design Director is responsible for developing and managing all aspects of design and creative output for following categories (Jackets, Shirts, Pants, Shorts—inclusive of Special Projects). They will work under the Head(s) of Design and Chief Creative Officer, to support the creative vision of the brand and develop the seasonal direction for woven apparel.

  • Responsible for inspiring creativity and fostering new concepts through research & design presentations, based on seasonal creative direction of Founder, CCO & Head of Design

  • Prepares precise and strategic research assignments based on direction from Chief Creative Officer & Head(s) of Design with a clear understanding of how the concepts can be actualized into design.

  • Responsible for execution of design ideation through research mock-up, color assortment and CAD within dedicated categories

  • Responsible for vetting all designs/ideas/mock-ups/ and color strategy presentations of category teams in woven design before major milestone meetings

  • Partners with graphics team to ensure consistent graphic direction and branding across categories

  • Collaborates closely with Design leadership and Merchandising department to build seasonal assortment that satisfies both core and new concept business needs

  • Partners with Development Team to ensure accurate development of collection with regards to time and action calendar

  • Attends fittings and product sample reviews, communicating ideas clearly to execute fit and style direction

  • Creates briefs for communicating design direction and deadlines to design teams and contracted external designer(s)

  • Supports talent acquisition and the development of a team of professional managers and experienced individual contributors

Skills for Success

Years of related professional experience: 10+ years experience in a similar role

  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.

  • Possess high fashion aesthetics.

  • Previous experience working with a global brand, especially Asia and Europe.

  • High level of communication

  • Proficiency with computer design software, i.e., Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop)

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet seasonal milestones and key deadlines

  • Excellent presentation and problem-solving skills

  • Experience throughout all elements of design inclusive of technical innovation, graphics, color, fabric, trim

  • Experience in professional management

Hiring Range:

$182,160.00 USD - $227,700.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
