Brief

User experience (UX) designers create accessible, aesthetically appealing and meaningful applications and websites that people are able to use easily. As a UX designer, you'll be expected to ensure that the 'user experience' for individuals using websites or applications is as efficient and pleasurable as possible. You'll be involved in the design of digital products and services for specific target groups and end users and will need to understand motivations. You'll work collaboratively with other members of the digital team and the wider business to ensure that products and services meet client needs. Other roles that fall under the umbrella of UX design include information architect, interaction designer (UI), usability tester, UX researcher or analyst and visual designer.

Role

Research & Deconstruction

He/she must oversee and conduct user research, interviews & incorporate usability testing. Should be able to conduct competitive analyses and do in depth research on marketing data. Main job will be to create user personas, user journey maps, usability tests, and surveys/questionnaires.

Interactive Designer

Must focus on the user’s interaction with the interface- how the menu slides on or off the screen, what kind of a transition happens when a window opens or closes, what is the response time when a user takes an action. Furthermore, must ensure that the interactions are consistent with results from each user research, whilst they continue to form wireframe & product interaction prototypes.

UI/UX Strategist

Use technical skills to make working product prototypes that are based on concepts developed via UX researchers and other designers in the team. Advise team members whether or not the ideas they have are technically feasible. Use programming languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to turn visual designs into working prototypes, whilst continuing to implement interaction and motion designs into product prototypes

It’s a challenging role requiring to understand the interaction of design principles, having a knowledge of industry tools such as Sketch, InVision, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Zeplin & OmniGraffle, whilst you understand the business metrics and its ability to translate company goals and objectives into a digital experience.

Skills

The UX/UI designer must have excellent problem solving skills, and must be a concept thinker with a keen visual awareness and willingness to learn specialist programmer skills, whilst showing an interest in coding and designing principles. Furthermore, a high level of concentration and resilience to stay focused on a project to the end and meeting deadlines, with excellent written communication skills & an eye for detail is mandatory.

They must be able to have effective communication to liaise with the team members and clients to ensure that high quality end-user designs meet customer requirements for the organization, whilst empathizing with the customer to understand what they need as an end product off the website/app.

Moreover, the UX/UI designer should have an open, flexible and adaptable mindset to cope with a rapidly changing set of tasks in an area of emerging, new technologies, with a design and spatial skill to gauge the usability of the website or application along with the aptitude to use logical, step-by- step approach to ensure designs are user friendly and simple for the end users.

They have the willingness to keep up to date with software applications and new technologies in a rapidly changing profession, with the ability to relate well to other professionals and work in a specialist team.

The UI/UX must develop an understanding of:

● Collaborating with the business strategy

● Capturing the attention of a user through the application

● What users want from their device and then designing it so they can find all of itsfeatures easily without any hassle

The UI/UX designer must be responsible of:

● Gathering and evaluating user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and engineers

● Illustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps

● Designing graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets

● Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function andlook like

● Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)

● Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders

● Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)

● Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback

● Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images
